The Haryana state agricultural marketing board has ventured into the setting up of the "Kisan Mandis" with the primary objective of establishing market linkage to the farmers directly, by-passing the traditional middle man route. The first kisan mandi has been established in Panchkula district which will be followed in a phased manner in the other districts.
The setting up of the kisan mandis would be a boon to the farmers as they would be in a position to determine the price of their produce and will be able to take home the full value of their produce. They would be free from the clutches of the middle men and would be able to carry out their business independently. The consumers would be benefitted as they would have access to vegetables/fruits fresh from the farm and at relatively lower price than the retail market.
The HSAMB would be playing a supporting role in this venture by bridging the gap between the farmers and the consumers. The board would be charging nothing whatsoever from the farmers, conversely it would be providing facilities to the farmers like their electronic registration , shielding them from the middlemen by providing an exclusive market, providing weigh machines and cold store facility free of cost etc.
Under the visionary leadership and guidance of the Honourable Chief Minister of Haryana, the HSAMB hopes that this venture would prove to be a mile stone in empowering the farmers and would help the consumers get value for their money.
